Life on the prairies of the American Midwest was difficult for settlers. The weather was severe; very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. There were wild animals and Indians to contend with. To protect their families and keep them secure, settlers built sod houses. The home was only open on one side. It was covered with dirt and sod as a means of insulation which kept it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It also served to camouflage the dwelling so enemies would no easily see it.

Art has been a part of Judy's life since childhood. In the early 2000's, a Nikon D40X was purchased and the journey began. Judy's philosophy on art is that it is the window to your soul. The love of life and nature might be what you glimpse when you view her work.
